Union hopes to save 18,000 jobs at Poundland
SHOPWORKERS’ union Usdaw said yesterday that it hopes to secure the jobs of more than 18,000 workers as the Poundland chain faces being taken over by a South African firm.
Talks on the Steinhoff takeover are continuing but it is expected to go ahead with a price tag of £597 million.
Usdaw said it was working with Poundland to secure the future of the workforce.
