Austin Reed: Over 1,100 jobs chucked on scrapheap
Menswear retailer latest high-street victim of Osborne’s policies

TORY Chancellor George Osborne’s phoney “economic recovery” was yet again exposed for the sham it is yesterday as the administrators called in to menswear retailer Austin Reed gave up all hope of survival and declared 1,184 job losses.

The news comes amid a torrid time for the high street, with the fate of department store chain BHS set to be revealed later this week.

And in Scotland Muller Milk confirmed the closure of two dairies, at East Kilbride and Aberdeen, with the potential loss of 225 jobs.
