AT LEAST 30 Iranian firefighters were killed yesterday when a high-rise commercial building in Tehran collapsed during a fire. At least 75 people were injured, including 45 firefighters.
All occupants were evacuated, but there were fears some shopkeepers had returned to save valuables. Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before the collapse.
The fire appeared to be the most intense in the building’s upper floors, home to garment workshops.
