CHINA warned Washington and Seoul not to “go further down the wrong path” as the US began deploying an advanced missile system in South Korea yesterday.

The first components of the terminal high-altitude area defence (Thaad) anti-missile system arrived a day after North Korea fired four ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan.

“China firmly opposes the deployment of Thaad,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said. “We will definitely be taking necessary measures to safeguard our own security interest.
