MORNING STAR supporters raised £420 for the paper at a benefit event at the legendary Trades Club in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, on Sunday, organised by Calder Valley Morning Star Readers and Supporters Group.
The Red Shed Players from Wakefield Labour Club performed their hilarious new pantomime Little Red Corbyn Hood, volunteer band Fevertrees from Bradford won a storm of applause and the event finished with a tribute to Scottish poet Robbie Burns with recitations and haggis, neeps and tatties, to the pipes accompaniment of Peadar Long.
Star supporters from Manchester and Bradford joined Calder Valley comrades at the event. Further Burns supper celebrations are planned in the north: South Yorkshire supporters stage their event on Saturday at Wortley Hall, the workers’ stately home, near Sheffield, and Bradford supporters’ event is on Friday January 27 in Ilkley.
