North Korea tells South: 'Cancel your drills before Asian Games'

SOUTH KOREA must cancel annual military drills with the US this summer if it wishes to promote reconciliation before hosting the Asian Games, its northern neighbour insisted today.

The demand, tabled by Pyongyang’s National Defence Commission, illustrated that the North intends to use its participation in the games as a negotiating card.

The Asian Games are scheduled to take place in Incheon from September 19 to October 4.
