Corbyn: Trump and Farage are posing as anti-elitist

JEREMY CORBYN will condemn the “fake anti-elitism of rich white men like Nigel Farage and Donald Trump” at Labour’s national policy forum today, writes Conrad Landin.

The controversial consensus-based body will meet for the first time since the general election, and will elect a new chair and vice-chair.

In a speech to forum members, party leader Mr Corbyn will say: “Voting for the status quo is not attractive to people because they know the status quo is failing them.”

Labour’s national executive committee (NEC) will also be discussing potential reforms to party structures.

The party’s deputy leader Tom Watson has sought to control the ruling body through mechanisms such as adding seats for the Scottish and Welsh party leaderships.

Meanwhile leftwingers argue that the number of representatives elected by members should be increased from the current six positions.

But a source close to party machinations told the Star they did not expect anything to come out of the national policy forum or NEC meetings “unless Watson manipulates everyone.”
