Cops’ survey delay anger

UNISON has called on Police Scotland to publish the results of a major staff survey, saying that members are angry with the delay.

Unison Police Staff Scotland branch secretary George McIrvine said: “Unison is concerned that they are delaying publication because the staff survey is not comfortable reading.”

Mr McIrvine said that the survey will reflect the reality that “the workforce are under extreme pressure resulting in low morale, they are concerned about job security and worried about what the future holds for them within Scottish policing.”

Police Scotland was formed in 2013 through a merger of Scotland’s eight forces, and has been attacked over its controversial stop-and-search tactics.

In response to the calls, a Police Scotland spokesman said: “The results are currently being analysed by an independent organisation” and “will be published as soon as possible.”
