Tories pull back Labour poll lead

Opinions: Labour and the Conservatives are neck and neck, a weekly poll by millionaire Tory donor Lord Ashcroft showed yesterday. 

Last week’s survey gave Ed Miliband’s party a seven point lead — but the Tories have made five points back and both parties now stand level on 33 per cent.

Ukip were down one point to 14 per cent, with the Liberal Democrats up one on 9 per cent, and the Greens unchanged on 6 per cent.

 

Baited posh thesp not at home here

Class: Actor Freddie Fox has dismissed Benedict Cumberbatch’s complaint that he has been the victim of “posh bashing.”

Sherlock star Cumberbatch said that he was considering moving to the US because he was fed up with being “castigated” for his public school background.

But Mr Fox labelled his moaning “a load of bollocks,” saying: “I mean, Ben’s doing alright, isn’t he?”

 

Bundles of cash sunk in referendum

Moneybags: Scotland’s independence referendum campaigns have now received more than £4.5 million in donations, Electoral Commission figures revealed yesterday. 

Campaigners for independence have received £1,822,120 in donations while those on the pro-union side have banked £2,742,723.
