South Korea: Parliamentary elections end in defeat for Park supporters
SOUTH KOREAN President Park Geun Hye’s conservative Saenuri party lost Wednesday’s parliamentary elections, results showed yesterday.
Saenuri had been expected to capitalise on a rise in tensions with North Korea to maintain its majority, but only took 122 seats in the 300-member assembly — one less than the liberal Minjoo party.
The People’s Party, a leftwards split from Minjoo, won 38 seats.
