THE Scottish TUC Congress called on Western governments yesterday to recognise the rights of the Kurdish people in Turkey and resolved to support Rojava in Syria, defend Kobane and defeat Islamic State (Isis).
“The heroic struggle made by the defence forces of Rojava including women and youth and the PKK Kurdistan Workers Party has inspired people around the world,” South Lanarkshire TUC delegate Phil McGarry told the STUC Congress.
“Reinforced by peshmerga forces of the Kurdish regional government they have defeated Isis and liberated their city Kobane.
