Celtic's Steven Mouyokolo out for six months

Scottish Premiership preview

Celtic summer signing Steven Mouyokolo will be out for six months with a complete rupture of an Achilles tendon, Hoops boss Neil Lennon confirmed yesterday.

The 26-year-old returned to France where he has had surgery on the injury picked up at training on Monday.

Lennon, whose side travel to Hearts in today’s lunchtime kick-off, said: “It was an innocuous thing. He was running for the ball and we heard this pop.

“We thought he had clipped someone’s ankle but obviously straight away he knew something was wrong and he went over to the side.

“He had a complete rupture of his Achilles tendon, he has had surgery in France. We are waiting on how well the operation went but we are looking at maybe six months, so we are hoping to see him sometime in the New Year.”

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership, Kilmarnock host league leaders Inverness, who are yet to lose a game so far this campaign.

Basement club Hearts host Dundee United, who are seventh as they bid to eat further into their 15-point administration deficit.

Motherwell, who are currently third, take on Ross County, who are ninth in the table with four points from five matches.

St Johnstone meet Partick Thistle with the two sides on eight points each, and fifth and fourth respectively.

On Monday night, Aberdeen travel to St Mirren, though the Dons will be without captain Russell Anderson who has broken his hand in a training-ground accident.
