SCOTLAND'S trade union movement leads the annual St Andrew's Day march and rally against racism and fascism in Glasgow today in defiance of the ultra-right Scottish Defence League.
The racist SDL had applied for permission to march in Glasgow on the same day but the city council and Police Scotland refused.
Rab O'Donnell, secretary of Glasgow Hope Not Hate, told the Morning Star: "The St Andrew's Day march is a public statement that Scotland will not tolerate racism.
"Glasgow is sending out a clear message today - the racists and fascists are not welcome on our streets."
Following the rally, a charity football tournament with teams from a range of community groups, including refugees, and political parties will raise money for the Bhopal Medical Appeal.
Marchers meet at Glasgow Green at 10.30am, setting off at 11am to a rally at Glasgow Film Theatre at 12 noon.
