South Korea: Protests as sex slave foundation opens doors
SOUTH Korea launched a Tokyo-funded foundation yesterday to support women forced into sexual slavery by Japanese forces during World War II.
Protests greeted the opening of the foundation office in Seoul yesterday, as activists and students criticised last December’s settlement of the dispute between South Korea and Japan over the sex slaves.
One protester was detained after aiming pepper spray at foundation director Kim Tae Hyun, who had to be treated in hospital.
