Concussion (12A)
Directed by Peter Landesman
4/5

WILL SMITH’S convincing portrayal of immigrant Nigerian forensic neuropathologist Dr Bennet Omalu and Peter Landesman’s screenplay and direction breathe life into what on the surface might seem an unlikely narrative for a feature film.

It focuses on the clinician’s dogged investigation into the consequences of severe brain damage caused by violent collisions between players in the US National Football League and, in an adroit opening, we see Omalu impressively proving his medical credentials while giving evidence in court.
