Robertson misses 100th century in last-16 win

Neil Robertson booked his place in the World Championship quarter-finals at the Crucible yesterday, but narrowly missed out on claiming his century of season centuries.

The world number one beat Mark Allen 13-7 but fell short of grabbing his 100th century of the season, missing pots on 94 and 92.

The Australian is aiming to be the first person to reach the milestone.

“Throughout the whole match Mark kept sticking with me and I thought he played really well,” Robertson told BBC2 following his win.

“He’s always going to score really heavily but his safety was really good and I didn’t have many opportunities at long balls.”

Robertson said he was disappointed that he hadn’t managed the landmark century with snooker legend Stephen Hendry in the crowd.

“Hopefully for the next couple of sessions he can be in the (commentary) box as it would be good to do it in front of him.”
