Councillors pampered by developers
by Steve Sweeney

ANGRY protests were held outside Haringey Council in London last night following revelations that councillors had been wined and dined 13 times by developers aiming to cash in on a controversial housing deal.

The protest, organised by Haringey Momentum, called on the council’s scrutiny committee to oppose the authority’s planned establishment of a joint venture company that would demolish 4,000 homes.

The panel was meeting to discuss plans for the Haringey Development Vehicle, which would see council property handed over for development in a controversial public-private partnership scheme.
