Boxing veteran Manny Pacquiao reclaims welterweight title

BOXING: Veteran Manny Pacquiao reclaimed the WBO welterweight title with a unanimous points decision victory over Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas.

It was sweet revenge for Pacquaio after the previously unbeaten Bradley was controversially awarded their initial fight two years ago.

Pacquiao, 35, proved there is still life left yet in his glittering career as the judges scored him the winner 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112.

FOOTBALL: Wolves clinched promotion to the Championship with a 2-0 win at 10-man Crewe in League One.

Kevin McDonald and Dave Edwards grabbed the decisive goals for Kenny Jackett’s men.

The game drifted away from Crewe in the closing stages of the first half with Chuks Aneke sent off moments after McDonald had opened the scoring.

Wolves were relegated from the Championship last year.

FOOTBALL: Burnley missed the chance to secure promotion to the top flight as they were beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Jacob Butterfield scored the only goal of the game at Turf Moor six minutes into the second half.

Despite the defeat, the second-placed Clarets still retained a healthy eight-point lead over Derby.

Up next for Sean Dyche’s men are Blackpool

FOOTBALL: A horror mistake by Rangers stand-in goalkeeper Steve Simonsen let Dundee United seal their place in the Scottish Cup final as the Tannadice side ran out 3-1 winners at Ibrox.

With the League One champions trailing by 2-1 and looking for a leveller, Simonsen was dispossessed by United’s Nadir Ciftci after receiving a Richard Foster back-pass to allow the United striker to walk in an easy third with minutes remaining.
