UN demands access to Palestinian refugee camp

THE United Nations demanded access yesterday to the Palestinian refugee camp at Yarmouk in Syria, where Isis forces are battling rebels associated with the Free Syrian Army as well as government troops.

Although in other parts of Syria battles have broken out between Isis and the equally bloodthirsty al-Qaida affiliate the Nusra Front, the two organisations are apparently co-operating in the assault on Yarmouk.

The link highlights the chaotic nature of foreign intervention in Syria.

The Nusra Front’s recent territorial gains around Idlib relied heavily on assistance from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi intelligence officials, even though both countries are formally committed to the fight against Isis.
