SOUTH Korean President Park Geun Hye proposed the abolition of the single-term presidential limit yesterday but the opposition dismissed it as an attempted diversion from her troubles.
Addressing parliament, Ms Park claimed that the current system made it difficult for the government to maintain continuity of policy, including in its dealings with North Korea.
South Korea adopted the current system in 1987, ending decades of military-backed dictatorships, including that of Ms Park’s father Park Chung Hee.
