Bradford began life under new ownership with a 28-10 defeat to Huddersfield yesterday in Luke Robinson’s testimonial match at Stadium Way.
The Bulls, fielding just seven, mostly youthful, survivors from the club’s 2016 squad, were soundly beaten by their Super League hosts but Bradford fans were simply happy to watch the team get back onto the field after witnessing the old club go into liquidation in the close season.
Ross Oakes and former London Broncos half-back Joe Keyes scored tries for the Bulls while forwards Seb Ikahihifo and Oliver Roberts, a former Bradford player, both touched down twice for the Giants, who led 16-0 at half-time.
Elsewhere, Featherstone gained a 28-20 win over Wakefield, Salford won the Colin Dixon trophy with a 13-6 victory at Halifax and promoted Leigh trounced Wigan 50-10 in Michael McIlorum’s testimonal.
St Helens lifted the Karalius Cup with a 16-0 victory over Widnes but have an injury worry over new signing Matty Smith, who limped off before half-time.
