MIAMI-BORN saxophonist and trumpeter Joe McPhee and the phenomenal drummer Chris Corsano from New Jersey played in two separate groups with English musicians at Cafe Oto.

On the first night they accompanied arch-bassist John Edwards and, as he settled in with McPhee and Corsano’s scintillating free sounds, indulging in some fascinating call-and-response palaver, his bass was like another horn.
