Davis has ‘made a grand’ from Brexit

BREXIT Secretary David Davis claimed yesterday to have “made a grand” betting on Britain leaving the European Union.

Mr Davis admitted to the flutter when he was questioned about a poll suggesting that voters did not trust the “three Brexiteers” — Mr Davis, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and International Trade Secretary Liam Fox.

He brushed off the claims, telling LBC radio: “Polls are not that reliable.

“I was in this studio on referendum day with Iain Dale, referendum night, and the polls at that point were telling us there’s going to be a 10-point advantage to Remain.

“So I put some money on, and it’s still paying my office’s drinks bills. I made a grand.”

People’s Assembly national organiser Tom Griffiths slammed Mr Davis, saying: “The Tories continue to gamble with people’s futures while making a few bob for themselves.”

A People’s Brexit Question Time meeting hosted by the People’s Assembly takes place at St Pancras Church, Euston Road, London NW1, at 7pm this evening.
