A RADICAL record company sent Ukip’s election campaign into a spin yesterday with a satirical new record that needles Nigel Farage.

Not satisfied with hijacking Ukip’s website in January, Alcopop Records has now released The Wit and Wisdom of Nigel Farage.

The special 7" vinyl will hit the shops just in time for the general election on May 4 … and is completely silent.

Alcopop’s stunt is based on Stiff Records’s 1980 hit The Wit and Wisdom of Ronald Reagan, a silent LP that sold 30,000 copies.

“We’re not a massively political label and we’re not trying to tell people who to vote for,” said Alcopop Records spokesman Jack Clothier.

“We’re just genuinely terrified at what could happen to this country if people listen to the slick, media savvy cult of Farage rather than actually looking at his policies.

“So anything we can do in our small way to make people question his political motives is something we’re delighted to be involved in.”

A blurb for the latest single explains it was also inspired by what “the Alcopop crew imagine Mr Farage has in his head … dripping taps, ambient noise and seagulls.”

Fortunately for progressive pop fans, the B-side contains a special mix by Rou of Enter Shikari.

And some of the profits made through sales of the record, priced at £4, will be donated to the Migrant Rights Network charity.

The single will be on sale on the record company’s website and independent record stores, such as the legendary Rough Trade in London.

With a specially designed sleeve, it won’t be hard to spot on the shelves. The Andy Warhol-style cartoon shows a grinning Nigel Farage grasping a pint and giving a thumbs up.

Migrant Rights Network director Don Flynn told the Star: “We are sure that the leaders of all the political parties recognise that satire is one of the British nation’s greatest gifts to the world.

“It’s especially needed during the course of an election campaign when immigration has proven to be such a contentious issue.
