South Korea: Judges hold first hearing in Park’s trial for corruption

SOUTH KOREA’S Constitutional Court held its first preparatory hearing yesterday in the trial of impeached President Park Geun Hye.

Judges said that the president’s long-time confidant Choi Soon Sil will be called as a witness in the explosive corruption scandal.

MPs voted to remove Ms Park amid outrage over her conduct that brought nearly two million people onto the streets in protest.
