FORMER police officer Robert Olsen asked a judge yesterday to dismiss charges over his killing of a naked unarmed black man with mental health problems.
Mr Olsen shot Anthony Hill dead on March 9 2015 after being called to deal with his “erratic” behaviour.
Mr Hill was an air force veteran with mental health problems who had been crawling naked around the car park outside his block of flats in Atlanta when police were called.
Mr Olsen shot him dead when he ran towards him and has been charged with felony murder, violating his oath of office, aggravated assault and making a false statement (that Mr Hill had struck him).
Mr Olsen has since resigned from the department.
His lawyers say he was under attack, but prosecutors say even if this were true the officer had pepper spray and a taser and did not need to fire his gun.
