South Korea: Lotte founder’s family charged with corruption

SOUTH Korean prosecutors filed charges yesterday against Lotte Group’s founder, his partner and his three adult children for multiple crimes, including embezzlement and tax evasion.

The announcement wrapped up the four-month-long investigation into South Korea’s fifth-biggest family-owned conglomerate.

Founder Shin Kyuk Ho and the firm’s current chairman Shin Dong Bin together allegedly dodged £62 million in tax and took £37m from the till.
