Parents won’t have place in academies

PARENTS will be “silenced” under the government’s plan to force all schools to convert to academies, teachers warned yesterday.

The Tories’ education white paper revealed that Whitehall plans to scrap reserved places on governing bodies for parents — despite Education Secretary Nicky Morgan promising to put parents “at the heart of everything we do.”

Ministers were also accused of failing to include the £700 million cost of academy conversion in Wednesday’s Budget.
