Ambulance response times increase across England as waiting list hits 6.1m

THE time people spend waiting for an ambulance has risen across England as the overall waiting list for treatment hit 6.1 million in January, according to new figures.

Data from NHS England, published today, revealed that people with potentially life-threatening conditions are sometimes waiting twice as long as they should for an ambulance, compared to national targets.

The waiting list for NHS hospital treatment continued hitting new record levels, with the number of people having to wait more than 52 weeks to start treatment standing at 311,528 in January.
