Peace campaigners to protest arms fair in Liverpool

PEACE campaigners will protest in Liverpool tomorrow to demand council chiefs refuse to allow a sales exhibition of deadly weapons to take place.

The AOC Europe 2021 arms fair is due to take place at the council-owned ACC Exhibition Centre from October 11 to 13.

A coalition of organisations has combined to form Liverpool Against the Arms Fair and members will hold a protest outside a Liverpool Council meeting tomorrow backing city Mayor Joanne Anderson’s bid to ban the fair.

The mayor has tabled a motion stating that the fair is not “compatible with and does not promote the peaceful socialist values of the council and the wider city.”

Mark Jackson of Liverpool Against the Arms Fair said: “Liverpool residents are rightly outraged that this heinous fair is still scheduled to take place.

“Mayor Anderson must take concrete actions to get the event out of the city.”
