RETAIL union Usdaw is to hold a strike ballot at beauty products giant BCM Fareva, where workers are embroiled in the latest fire-and-rehire dispute.
The vote, due to run from next Wednesday to June 2, was announced in response to proposals to impose inferior working conditions on 800 staff at the company’s Nottingham factory, which produces skin care and pharmaceutical products for leading brands such as Boots.
Usdaw slammed BCM, part of French firm Fareva, for pre-emptively threatening to fire and rehire staff who refuse to accept changes to sick pay and redundancy agreements.
