Calls for more funding as NHS waiting lists hit record high
UNIONS and health experts demanded a surge in NHS funding today as figures revealed that a record 4.95 million people were awaiting hospital treatment in England in March.
NHS England also revealed that 436,127 had been waiting for more than a year — more than in any month since August 2007, and massively higher than the 3,097 in March 2020.
More than 300,000 had been waiting more than six weeks for one of 15 key diagnostic tests, compared with 85,000 a year ago.
