Campaigners condemn Israeli raid on al-Aqsa mosque
Israeli security forces point their guns at Palestinians demonstrators at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem's Old City, Friday, April 15, 2022

CAMPAIGNERS have condemned Israeli forces for launching a raid on the al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem, which left more than 150 Palestinian worshippers injured.

Israeli police stormed the site – the third holiest in Islam – in a dawn raid on Friday when thousands of worshippers were present to observe the holy month of Ramadan.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said staff working at the al-Aqsa compound were among 152 Palestinians injured and that Israeli forces had hindered the arrival of ambulances and paramedics.
