Campaigners in Manchester to hold emergency protest in support of Palestinian hunger strikers

CAMPAIGN groups in Manchester are joining forces for an emergency protest in support of hunger strikers in Palestine.

Palestinian prisoners Khalil Awawdah and Raed Rayyan have been on hunger strike for 80 days and 45 days respectively in protest against their administrative detention without charge or trial.

Another prisoner, Ahmad Manasra, is awaiting trial next month after being kept in isolation for six months.

Ten Palestine support groups, including Manchester Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Manchester Youth for Palestine, alongside the CND and Stop the War Coalition will protest at 5.30pm in Piccadilly Gardens on Thursday.

A joint statement from the groups said: “Most recently, the Israeli offensive force has shot dead 17-years-old Amjad Fayed.

“Confrontations are happening against the occupation all over Palestine.

“We demand freedom for the hunger-striking prisoners, Ahmad Manasra and all Palestinian political prisoners.”
