Cleaners form a picket line with their UVW comrades

CARE-home bosses in North London have agreed to negotiate with workers on their demand for £12-an-hour pay following a 100 per cent vote in favour of strike action.

The United Voices of the World (UVW) trade union said a victory would set a precedent for reform of the entire adult social-care sector.

Sage Nursing Home workers, who are all migrants from ethnic minorities, returned their unanimous, first-of-its-kind vote for strike action on pay, as well as entitlement to NHS annual leave and sick pay.
