Cuba Solidarity Campaign to protest outside US embassy

A PROTEST against mounting US aggression towards Cuba will be held in central London on Sunday.

US-sponsored demonstrations in Cuba in July, backed by Cuban far-right emigres in the United States, were just some of the latest actions in Washington’s 60-year campaign to undermine the country.

In a statement, the Cuba Solidarity Campaign (CSC) said: “In July there were a number of demonstrations in Cuba which were widely reported by the mainstream media.

“However, what wasn’t reported was the level of co-ordination and financing for these protests by the US and the far-right anti-Cuban groups based mainly in Miami.

“These same groups are now attempting to take advantage of the difficult economic situation brought about through the US blockade, tightened US sanctions and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“They are now working to co-ordinate a repeat of the July events, with more threats of destabilisation and possible violence aimed at preparing the ground for another ‘soft coup’ attempt.”

Cuba supporters will demonstrate outside the Cuban embassy at 1pm on Sunday.
