AN EMERGENCY motion on Ukraine was rejected by delegates at the NEU’s annual conference today.
The motion, which condemned Russia’s invasion, demanded an immediate ceasefire and warned the deployment of Nato troops would be a “dangerous escalation,” was not backed by a majority of members in a show of hands.
The expression of solidarity was rejected after an amendment moved by Southend delegate Robin Bevan was narrowly defeated in a “digivote” via app after a show of hands was too close to call.
