Employer strikes the wrong note with workers
Staff at popular Glasgow pub 13th Note withdraw their labour on health and safety grounds

WORKERS at a popular Glasgow pub withdrew their labour today on health and safety grounds as their battle for union recognition goes on.

Employees walked out of the 13th Note in Glasgow’s King Street, invoking section 44 of the Employment Rights Act, citing “serious and imminent danger to health and safety.”

This is the latest chapter in a dispute with the employer, which has been going on since February, as workers have raised concerns over what they call “poverty pay, a lack of legitimate contracts, major health and safety breaches, physically and mentally punishing working conditions, and pay discrimination by age and gender.”
