Environmental activists thrown out of Heston Blumenthal restaurant

ENVIRONMENTAL activists were removed from Heston Blumenthal’s swanky London restaurant on Saturday.

Animal Rebellion protester Ben Thomas, 20, said diners at two-Michelin-starred Dinner, near Hyde Park, rolled their eyes and “threatened us” as a group of eight occupied tables.

Student Mr Thomas described their removal as “very rough and really heavy-handed.”

The group, an offshoot of Extinction Rebellion, said it targeted the restaurant because it is “symbolic of the broken system.”

“These restaurants charge extortionate prices for animal products which are really harmful to the environment and the climate and just cater for the 1 per cent,” said Mr Thomas.

The restaurant’s head of security, who did not give his name, told the Morning Star he wasn’t there during the incident but was glad the protesters were removed swiftly without too much inconvenience to customers, adding they were trespassers.
