Deal to save historic theatre in Oldham ‘close’, says Equity union

EQUITY says a deal to save a historic northern theatre was “close” after a meeting with Arts Council England today.

The performers’ union warned however that unless the process was sped up, 70 jobs at the Coliseum Theatre in Oldham, Greater Manchester, would be at risk.

The theatre has been due to close from March 31, with all its employees losing their jobs, since the Arts Council withdrew its funding.
