Government decision to axe LGBT funding for schools is ‘callous’
LABOUR hit out at the government’s “callous” decision today to axe funding for projects tackling bullying of LGBT+ students in England's schools.
The decision to discontinue investing in school programmes targeting homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying came despite ministers admitting that those identifying as LGBT+ face a higher risk of bullying which can cause long-term harm.
Since 2014, the Government Equalities Office had funded several programmes costing about £4 million.
