Javid tries to justify lockdown lifting

HEALTH Secretary Sajid Javid claimed yesterday that the government was taking cautious approach to ending the England lockdown on July 19.

He told MPs that it was the “right time to get our nation closer to normal life.”

Mr Javid added: “To those who say: ‘Why take this step now?’ I say: ‘If not now, when?’”

From next Monday, the use of domestic vaccine passports and face masks will merely be encouraged, rather than required, by the government, despite official acknowledgement that there could be 100,000 new cases of coronavirus a day in the summer.
