Khan told to ensure Uber complies with Supreme Court ruling on workers’ rights before renewing its licence
SADIQ KHAN must ensure private hire firm Uber is complying with a landmark Supreme Court ruling on workers’ rights before renewing its licence to operate in London, workers demanded today.
In a letter to the capital’s Labour mayor, the App Drivers and Couriers Union (ADCU) demanded he set tough conditions on the firm’s application to continue trading in the city beyond March 27 when its current license expires.
In February last year, the Supreme Court determined that Uber drivers are not self-employed but are workers entitled to holiday pay, paid breaks and a guaranteed minimum wage.
