Last-ditch talks on Heathrow pay strikes could avert flight chaos during Easter holidays

PAY strikes at Heathrow airport in the run-up to Easter could be averted after bosses were forced to offer more talks today, according to Unite.

The discussions came after Heathrow Airports Ltd (HAL) had originally refused to negotiate further over take-home wage cuts for more than 1,400 security officers, the union said.

Ten days of walkouts are due to begin on Friday and run until Easter Sunday — April 9 — without a breakthrough in the dispute, which could hit operations at Terminal 5 and cargo checks across the airport.
