New documentary to expose ‘conspiracy of smears’ used to destroy Corbyn

A NEW documentary film aims to expose a “conspiracy of smears” to destroy former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Labour: The Big Lie examines an “orchestrated attack” on the Islington North MP and his supporters from the right of the party, opposition forces and lobbyists.

Scriptwriter Norman Thomas said: “A conspiracy of smears was used to bring down Jeremy Corbyn and this film will give chapter and verse on how it was done.”

Mr Thomas, who was chair of Kent’s South Thanet Labour Party until December 2020 when he was suspended over his support for Mr Corbyn, said that he believes the film is relevant to the current Tory leadership crisis.

“Boris Johnson tried to get himself out of trouble by trying to smear [Labour leader] Keir Starmer with the Jimmy Savile scandal,” he said.

“This is ironic considering that Starmer himself has used fake allegations of anti-semitism to purge hundreds of members of his own party.

“It just illustrates the way smearing has become the weapon of choice in politics today.”
