Outsourced refuse workers in Gloucestershire set for a summer of strikes
ABOUT 150 outsourced refuse workers in Gloucestershire are set for a summer of strikes in a pay dispute with greedy bosses, their union Unite announced today.
Staff employed by contractor Suez to empty bins on behalf of the South Gloucestershire Council will down tools between June 12 and 18 and June 26 and July 9, the union confirmed.
The workers, who earn just £11.53 per hour, voted by 89 per cent to walk out after rejecting a below-inflation 8 per cent wage offer from the firm — which reported profits of £80.8 million in 2021, Unite noted.
