PCS warns of 2,000 job cuts at British Council

UP TO 2,000 jobs at the British Council could be axed due to funding cuts, the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) said today.

The union has been informed that a formal redundancy consultation will begin next week, with the possibility of job losses and the closure of overseas offices.

Staff at the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations, were told last week that savings would have to be made because of funding cuts.
