Pedal4Progress stop by the workers’ stately home on route to Selby

THE Morning Star’s indefatigable Pedal4Progress cycling team are set to arrive in Selby in North Yorkshire tonight.

But the team made sure to first enjoy the hospitality of Wortley Hall, the workers’ stately home outside Sheffield.

And they also boosted their £10,000 appeal for our paper by £250 when a cheque was presented to actor, cyclist and Morning Star ambassador Maxine Peake by David Williams, Yorkshire and the Humber region secretary of the Fire Brigade Union.

The FBU is one of the co-operative shareholders of Wortley Hall, and the union was also host for a reception held there for the cyclists, who are powering their way along a 160-mile trans-Pennine route from west coast to east, from Liverpool to Hull, where they will arrive after completing the fourth and final leg of their marathon this evening.

This year’s annual marathon is the tenth mounted by Pedal4Progress — dubbed the 10th edition.
