Racist teen found guilty of attack on Singaporean student

A TEENAGE racist has been found guilty of an attack in which a Singaporean student’s nose “exploded” from a blow he received.

Highbury magistrates’ court in north London heard that Jonathan Mok, 24, was left bloodied and bruised and required surgery on his face after he was assaulted by the teenager and other thugs in Oxford Street on February 24 last year.

The defendant, who cannot be named because he is only 15, was found guilty of racially aggravated grievous bodily harm.

Chairwoman of the magistrates Lesley Ward said that the attack had been “unprovoked and racially motivated.”

The court was told that the racist teenager was heard to shout: “I don’t want your coronavirus in my country.”

Mr Mok told the court: “My interpretation was he believed that I was the one who brought the coronavirus to this country, or people who look like me.”

The teenager was freed on unconditional bail to await sentencing on January 27.
