Sadiq Khan expands £2,000 Ulez grant to all Londoners

A ULEZ scrappage scheme has been extended to all Londoners facing the daily £12.50 high pollution driving charge, Sadiq Khan announced today.

Only child benefit recipients, low-income and disabled people were previously eligible for the grants of up to £2,000 to replace their car or motorbike with one that is exempt from the fee.

The London mayor was asked last month by Sir Keir Starmer to reflect on how the extension of Ulez to all London boroughs was being carried out following the Conservatives’ narrow parliamentary election victory in Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

Mr Khan said he would not “step back, delay or water down vital green policies like Ulez,” and has “continued to listen to the concerns of Londoners over recent months” as he announced all Londoners will be able to apply for the grants from August 21.

Small businesses and sole traders will also be eligible for £21,000 to junk up to three vans, with £27,000 available for charities to replace three minibuses.
